Summary	Hooks for plugins (was validity time)
Description	<p>As sayd I'm trying to think about a plugin version of my ValidityTime. I need such functionality in updated US environment, so... </p> <p>The old version works needs few data: two columns added to users table and a new permission (added to the permissions table, I need to know the exact name).</p> <p>On the code side, there is the needs to display and modify the new columns, so I had added it in the admin_user.php and admin_users.php both the display and the modify of such fileds.</p> <p>I had not yet gone deep on this, because I focused on the critical part: to check if the page can be displayed or not. It was (and is) in the securePage function.</p> <p>To check the user's time frame I do my stuff between the lines 326 and 327 of the new file users/helpers/permissions.php like this:</p> <p> </p> <p>                        //Check if user's permission levels allow access to page</p> <p>                        if (checkPermission($pagePermissions)){</p> <p>                //Validity Time check, may return false, may redirect to a specific error page</p> <p>                                return true;</p> <p>My question is: is there a way, or can we build a way to create a hook or something similar, that if the plugin is installed does the check, otherwise it goes on as if nothing were?</p> <p>Eventually, also to add new columns in admin_user / admin_users. I added them as standard field for add/modify. And modified the admin_users to display fields:</p> <p>Username \| name \| email \| last sign in \| valid from \| valid to \| status</p> <p>so you can keep an instant eye on the situation.</p> <p>May be this can be a new dedicate page (from plugin) to not mess up too much, but I don't know now.</p> <p> </p> <p>Thanks!</p>

This ticket is incredible old and outdated, and a lot has changed since them. I'm uncertain the functionality requested is still needed/in date to the current versions. Please open a new ticket if you feel there is something you should request as a feature to assist you in developing plugins.
