Facebook says that between the attempts (using the Rerequestul) you have to "You should have a screen of education on why you think they should grant the permission to you and then re-ask." So you have to implement some logic in between the attempts. What i did is instead of this code above i did this: $fbEmail = $fbuser['email']; if (!$fbEmail) { Redirect::to($us_url_root.'users/login.php?error=facebook_permissions'); } and the in login.php I check if the $_GET["error"] exists and use this: $declined_scopes = ['email']; $callback=$settings->fbcallback; $loginUrl = $helper->getReRequestUrl( $callback, $declined_scopes)); but you have to somehow manage that the hooks of the facebook plugin won't change the $loginUrl again.. I leave that to you ???? This is just for thought, I don't know it is correct way of doing it

I did add a modified version of this to the latest modern fb login plugin
