Summary	User Manager hangs for a few minutes then throws Ajax error
Description	I recently upgraded to 5.9.4 (soon after it came out) but didn&#039;t try to access User Manager until yesterday. When I did so the interface hung for a few minutes and then finally displayed a whole list of users. Oddly enough I have User Manager Search Engine set on in General Settings, but that seemed to be ignored. I tried toggling off then on, then returned back to User Manager but same results. I tried turning on error logging but no errors were recorded. This morning I updated to 5.9.5. Unfortunately User Manager is still broken but now throws the following error after a few minutes of hanging: DataTables warning: table id=userstable-ssp - Ajax error. For more information about this error, please see https://datatables.net/tn/7 This error occurs regardless of whether the User Manager Search Engine setting is on or off. I looked at my database tables and there is no such table named userstable-ssp. Wondering if this is a variable that is not getting properly addressed? I have the following plugins: Auto Logout Plugin Version: 1.0.1 CSV Importer/Exporter Version: 1.2.0 Downloads Plugin Version: 1.0.4 FYI my users table has 10,774 entries and my user_permission_matches table has 44,825 entries. Also I am on the stable release track.

I did manage to finally not get this error one time this morning. I entered the User Manage page and it still hung for a few minutes. But then it displayed nothing which is what is expected when the User Manager Engine is set to yes. I was also able to use filtering to find specific users. Filtering was quite responsive for a few users that I tried. I successfully added a user. Then I initiated a delete function on that user. The interface hung for a few minutes until I was finally returned to the User Manager page. Going to the Dashboard and then back to User Manager, it hung again. After a couple of minutes the Ajax error popped up again.

This is more wide spread than originally thought. I also get a long wait when I try to edit an existing permission from the Permissions and Tags page. When the edit page finally loads it will state, as expected, that because users are over 5,000 users they will not be displayed. In the past editing any existing permission did not result in a long wait before the edit page appeared.

I'm not seeing the connection in any code changes that should have slowed down anything for permissions and tags.

I tried the modified ssp_users.php file mentioned in Discord and it fixed the hang on the Users page BUT it is ignoring the User Manager Search Engine. I have it set to on but I still see a list of users. It did not fix the Permissions and Tags issue however when trying to edit an existing permission and the interface hangs for awhile before finally allowing me to edit. I then reverted the ssp_users.php file back and instead used the suggestions you gave above. That fixed the Users page too and it honors the User Manager Search Engine setting. I'm going to revert back your above suggestions and hold my updates to the modified ssp_users.php file. Thanks for your help with this. Let me know if you need any further steps by me to perform.
